Habits and the act of sinning

I remembered that my friend shared about the word 'habit' last year.
Habits are hard to shake off.
You remove the 'H' , you have 'a bit' of it left.
You remove the 'a', 'bit' is left.
You remove the 'b', you still have 'it'.
Only after you remove the 'i', then you will live like Christ (t).
(So which part of you(i) is not yet like Christ?)

The truth is that your act of sinning is habitual.
Think about it.

You lied to someone (that's the act of sinning).
You got away with things.
You go 'HAHA! Everything is fine! No one knows what's happening!'. (BUT GOD KNOWS)
And you stick with this 'easy-way-out' behavior and eventually got used to it.

If this goes on, the act of sinning would be part of your routine.
Do you want that to happen? No? Let's put an end to this.

It has been said that habits take 21 days to develop.
(That's assuming you practice that act per day)
Now you may go, 'Er...I know that but how does that help?'
But it's the key to eliminate the act of sinning.

If you have a bad habit and you want to stop it, try to substitute your bad habit with a good habit. Hopefully within 21 days your good habit will overwrite your bad habit (the act of sinning). Sounds way too easy?

Of course, eliminating the act of sinning will require much more work than that. As we fight a daily battle with Satan, it is important that we prepare our weapons. We would need to prepare verses which will come to your mind when you confront your temptations. Here are some verses to help/encourage you.

'So I say, live by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature'. (Gal 6:1).

'You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.' (1 Cor 6:19-20)

'His divine power has given s everything we need for life and godliness through our knowlede of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world caused by evil desires.' (2 Peter 1:3)

Claim victory for God.
