Finally! I didn't doze off on the bus ride to work.
(ok, that's not the main thing that I want to blog about)
Reading this true story kept me awake.
An electrician named Richard who was hired to do some work in an old building that was being remodeled for office space. He had an opinion on every subject, but he also had an opinion on every subject, but he also had a smile and was a likable person, despite his constant chatter.
One day, about a year after the initial remodeling was complete, the building owners wanted to make some additional changes, so they called again to ask if Richard could do the wiring. But Richard was no longer available.
One morning after an argument, Richard had gone to the bedroom and returned to the kitchen where his wife was standing at the sink. He touched her shoulder, and she turned just in time to see Richard pull the trigger of the pistol that was pressed against his head.
Bob Benson, his friend, asked him lots of times how Richard was doing, but Richard kept quiet.
Benson suggested that life, for many of us, is like those electric bumper cars at the amusement park. We just run into each other and smile and bump and continue on our way.
"Hi!" Bump bump!
"How are you doing?" Bump bump!
"I'm doing great, fantastic." Bump bump!
"And someone slips out and dies because there is no one to talk to." Bump bump bump.
After reading this, I felt so sad for Richard , his family and his friends.
As children of God, we are told to bear one another's burdens.
Are there people you know who smile on the outside but hurt within?
Talk to them.
Pray for them.
Help them!
