Foretaste...Aftertaste

I recalled moment 2 weeks ago when my mum made this bitter-gourd drink which tasted sweet at first but bitter later. Then I thought of how my sister's favorite Genmai green tea tasted like - the opposite of the bitter-gourd drink, tasting a little bitter at first but sweet later. Next, I pictured the Matrix scene where Neo decides whether he should take the red pill (see how deep the rabbit hole goes) or the blue pill (believe what you want).

In my opinion, choosing the red pill is like choosing to drink a cup of Genmai tea. It relates to choosing to suffer now, for the ultimate glory to be revealed when Jesus comes again. Choosing the blue pill is like choosing to drink the bitter- gourd drink. It relates to the choice to enjoy the 'sweet' moments, indulging in the worldly pleasures but only to end suffering in the flames of hell.

Jesus chose the bitter-sweet cup. It was terribly bitter for Him when each step he took was closer to the moment of His crucifixion. But He knew that He will sit on the right of His father again and all He did on the cross will make our lives come to a sweet end when we believe in Him and persevere till He comes again.

Which cup are you taking today?
