靠近我

The title of a song which I have been practicing with my church choir.

This song expresses Jesus' sympathy towards believers as he has experience life on earth in human flesh. Being a deity without sin, he walked in perfect obedience to die on the cross for us. If we talked about pain, he would probably be the subject matter expert in terms of experience and knowledge.

你只要背起十架
Not sure if I actually heard someone shared about this ... but it's currently a nagging thought. Upon reflection, (on the sidenote) could the issue be that we are carrying more than the cross ? Are we carrying anything in excess that is hindering our goal to walk the walk with joy in God ? Is it a pre-occupation with the self that has got us feeling discontented and disappointed? While following God does not mean that we are blessed with pleasant experiences all the time, could our sinful inclination to deviate from the assigned path be causing ourselves unnecessary misery?

I shall end this post recognizing that God wants us to draw closer to him, whether we have deviated from His path or faithfully carrying the cross in the midst of all the uncomfortable experiences we might have.
